Description
This chapel can be seen from the top of Mt. Pilates, just outside of Lucerne, Switzerland. Mt. Pilatus is so named according to the story that Pontius Pilate was supposedly buried there. Access to the top of the mountain is made via the "steepest cogwheel railway in the world". The chapel was inaugurated in August of 1861 with the reflective title of "The Transfiguration of Christ on Mount Tabor" (http://www.pilatus.ch/en/the-mountain/chapel-klimsenhorn/). The area around the chapel is a popular hang gliding location.
